Sunningdale Avenue's residents enjoyed a street party on Sunday July 10 to celebrate the Queen's birthday, Euro 2016 and the coming Olympics.

The weather was kind which made the party a great success. Windows were decorated and bunting was put up all along the street.

As is tradition with the avenue’s parties, a tree was planted, this year outside number 24.

Chris Jackson, who helped organise the party, said: “This year we created a ‘tree of friendship’ with everyone encouraged to dip their hands in paint and leave a hand print as leaves on the branches of a tree painted on to a large canvas, with each handprint identified by name and house number.

“Everyone felt that the street party was an enjoyable and worthwhile celebration and although essentially a social occasion any proceeds will be donated to local charities.”
