HOCKEY: Plenty of goals in winning weekend for ladies' teams
A strong performance from Rugby & East Warwickshire Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI ensured a 3-1 victory over North Notts on Saturday.
Goals came from Sarah, Charlie Woolliscroft and Nicki Siarbawa before holding out against the attempted comeback. Player of the match went to Jenni for an excellent game.

Hide AdIn the Ladies 2nd XI game, an injury to Gracie Gerrard in goal forced Katie Caspar to bravely suit up during the first half to fill the gap between the posts.
Two goals from Mary Burton and a strong team performance saw Rugby take the lead and hold on to win 2-1 despite the injuries.
A strong, physical performance from the Ladies 3rd XI against Barford Tigers saw an early lead taken from a short corner converted by Nadine Bell.
The second half saw more goals shared between Evie Scutt and Evie Headland for a 4-0 victory.

Hide AdFacing a fast and young Old Silhillians, Rugby’s 4th XI held strong and forced Sils to work hard for their goals.
The lone strike for Rugby in this 3-1 defeat came from Ruth Gibson, who found the ball in a goal line scramble and deposited it into the net.
Player of the match went to Susan Tarling for strong play in the middle.
REWHC Men’s 1st XI were beaten 3-1 by Worcester. After going down early from two aerial plays, Rugby were fighting to come back in the second half.

Hide AdDespite good link-up play leading to Adam Hewitt setting up man of the match Tom Robson, Rugby were not able to complete the comeback.
The Men’s 2nd XI also lost 3-1. Despite tying the game at 1-1 thanks to a Liam Brown goal, Rugby were unable to hold on against top of the league Streetly 1sts.
A slow start to the game saw Rugby’s 3rd XI ship a few goals to Sikh Union 1sts in the first half before finding their feet in the second half, but still going down 7-2.
Goals by Will Cooper-Harris and Richard Cook, as well as great showings from Alex Salter and man of the match Jimmy Royle, saw Rugby fight back, but were not enough to surmount the Union led.

Hide AdThe 4ths beat Sikh Union 2nd XI 3-2. Two goals by man of the match David Manning and another for Josh Russell saw Rugby go ahead in a well fought game.
REWHC Men’s 5th drew 1-1 with Northampton Saints 4th XI. An early goal, roofed by man of the match Bradley Ferris have Rugby the lead, but was soon countered by Saints with a short corner routine. Despite further chances, Rugby were unable to score again.
A great start saw the Under 14 Boys go two up early on, but Beeston came back strongly with two goals for 3-2 at the end of the first half.
A strong second half performance with high work rate saw the boys score another to put the game away 4-2.
